Group:
Group oral interpretation is a choral recitation of a poem or story. The group of children, 4th-6th graders, learn creative movement to enhance the delivery of the often humorous story. At times there are opportunities for smaller group or solo break-out parts. The performance has taken place the last few years at Clark’s Mercedes Edwards Theater in February.
Everyone interested in joining is welcome. There are no auditions. All the children learn the appreciation of literature interpretation, oral language and the skills it requires, and working together as a group. They also have a lot of fun along the way. Rehearsals are twice a week before school.

Mrs. Hunt or
Mrs. ParraIndividual:Only one child per grade level may be chosen to represent Maple Creek at the Annual Peach Blossom Festival. The Festival is held at Fresno State.
Students who participate are required to memorize a poem, and recite it to a panel of judges. They are encouraged to use gestures, but may not use props. Students are judged on eye contact, voice quality, body movement, and overall performance. The Maple Creek Team members choose a poem with the guidance of their coach, and then practice twice a week with the coach until their performance/competition.
