Husky BARK

What is the Husky BARK??

Maple Creek Elementary has always strived to create a safe and positive learning environment for all students. In an effort to continue to this end, we have worked together to develop a School Wide Positive Behavior (SWPB) Plan that we refer to as our BARK (Be Responsible, Active Learner, Respect All, and Keep Safe)The primary goal of this plan is to create a positive school climate that fosters being safe, respectful, and responsible.

The students learned about our new behavioral program, at Passport Day during the first week of school. Classroom teachers also lead instruction through our Behavior Matrix to promote our School Wide expectations: Be Responsible, Active Learner, Respect All, and Keep Safe.

In addition to our kickoff assembly, we have displayed signs around the exterior of our building and inside classrooms to continually promote positive behavior. All of the Maple Creek staff will be teaching their students the positive behaviors they are expected to demonstrate at school. We will acknowledge and reward students and classes who consistently demonstrate these positive behaviors.

We invite you to work with your student at home to reinforce our School Wide Positive Expectations system. We hope you will find students know the expectations well. Working together to promote positive behavior helps increase student achievement and get our students ready for the 21 Century Learning skills. Research shows that when the home and school work together, student learning is more successful.

Social Media Policies

District social media platforms exist to promote community involvement, to support student learning and staff professional development, and to enhance communication with students, families, staff and community. Users are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner.

Board Policy No. 1114 sets content guidelines and addresses privacy rights on District social media platforms. The complete policy is available online at https://boardpolicies.cusd.com/protected/ArticleView.aspx?iid=5GGUP2&dasi=1B, and in part reads:

“Official District social media platforms may not contain content that is obscene, libelous, or so incites students as to create a clear and present danger of the commission of unlawful acts on school premises, violation of school rules, or substantial disruption of the school’s orderly operation. Staff or students who post prohibited content shall be subject to discipline in accordance with District policies and administrative regulations.”

By submitting photos, video and captions, you are granting CUSD permission to publish them in any manner the district deems appropriate. Your submission means you have obtained consent of all people in your photos or video and have the right to post and use such submission. The district’s social media sites are not intended as a limited public forum or otherwise guarantee an individual’s right to free speech and comments in violation of the district’s policies can be removed.
